Through a series of sculptural installations, screen-prints, sound and video installations, and photographs examining the significance of merging symbols between Latin American art and history and its diaspora in Canada, Colín’s project for The Reach will look closely at the lives and experiences of participants in the Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program (SAWP), which brings thousands of workers from Mexico every year to work on Canadian farms. Her series Precious consists of a group of repurposed farm implements that Jones has embellished with damascene inlay, an age-old technique originally developed for inlaying silver and gold on arms and armour.
